Two Odisha-cadre IPS Officers empanelled for DG-level posts by centre

Bhubaneswar, June 12: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has empanelled 33 senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers across the country for appointment to the rank of Director General (DG) and equivalent positions under the Central Government. Among those selected are two senior officers from the Odisha cadre—Dr. Sudhanshu Sarangi and P.S. Ranpise.

Dr. Sarangi, a 1990-batch IPS officer, and P.S. Ranpise, a 1995-batch officer, have been included in the prestigious DG-level empanelment list, making them eligible for appointment to key leadership positions in central security and intelligence organisations.

The empanelment is considered a major milestone in an IPS officer’s career, paving the way for postings at the highest levels of central agencies such as the CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP and other security establishments.

The inclusion of the two Odisha-cadre officers is being seen as a significant development for the state's police administration. Notably, Dr. Sudhanshu Sarangi is among the leading contenders for the post of the next Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha.

The Centre’s decision is expected to enhance Odisha’s representation in top-ranking positions within the country's security and law-enforcement framework.
