Tiring, May 13: In a tragic incident on Wednesday morning, two men were allegedly hacked to death in Kulughutu village under the Tiring police station limits of Mayurbhanj district. The accused, reportedly in an inebriated state, has been taken into police custody.
The victims have been identified as Gopinath Sardar and Budheswar Rana, both residents of the village. The accused, Mochka Alda, allegedly attacked them suddenly with an iron rod (sabal) while standing in front of his house, resulting in their immediate deaths.
Panic ensued as villagers rushed to the scene, overpowered Alda, tied him up, and allegedly assaulted him before notifying authorities. Tiring police personnel arrived promptly, rescued the accused, and took him into custody. He was initially treated at the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Rairangpur before formal arrest procedures were completed.
Preliminary reports suggest the attack was alcohol-fueled. No prior enmity between the accused and the victims has been reported, and the exact motive is under investigation.
A case has been registered, and authorities continue their inquiry. The incident has left the local community in shock.
