Boudh, June 18: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is currently underway in Odisha's Boudh district. In a strict action against dereliction of duty, two Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been suspended for alleged negligence and unauthorized absence from their assigned responsibilities.
The suspended officials have been identified as Birendra Behera, Assistant Teacher of Gandisar Upper Primary School, and Shiba Chandra Gaan, Assistant Teacher of Kharabhui Upper Primary School.
According to official sources, the two teachers had been appointed as BLOs for Polling Station No. 176 (Gandisar) and Polling Station No. 169 (Kharabhui) respectively as part of the ongoing voter list revision programme.
Despite repeated instructions from election authorities, both officials allegedly remained absent from duty. Their absence was detected by the Assistant Electoral Registration Officer during routine monitoring of the SIR exercise.
Taking serious note of the matter, Boudh District Collector and District Election Officer Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak ordered their immediate suspension. He also directed the initiation of departmental disciplinary proceedings against both officials for failing to discharge their assigned election-related duties.
The district administration has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the smooth and timely completion of the Special Intensive Revision process and warned that strict action will be taken against any official found neglecting election-related responsibilities.
