Sundargarh, July 12: A minor girl was allegedly abducted and gang-raped in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.

The incident occurred in Bandega outpost area under Talasara police station limits of the district.

According to a complaint filed by the victim’s family, the horrific incident took place late last night. The minor girl, a resident of neighboring Chhattisgarh, had been staying at her uncle’s house in Bandega when the incident occurred.

The family stated in the complaint that the girl went outside the house and was forcibly abducted by two men on a motorcycle, who took her to a nearby forest. The family has alleged that a total of seven men were involved in the crime.

After managing to return home, the victim narrated her ordeal to her family. They subsequently approached the police station with the assistance of a local social worker to lodge a formal complaint.

Talasara police swung into action immediately, registering a case and launching a full-scale probe.

According to police, five suspects have been detained in connection with the crime so far, and further legal procedures are underway.

Police said the investigation is moving at a fast pace and dedicated teams are tracking the area to apprehend the remaining accused individuals.
