Puri, April 3: The traditional Lanka Podi ritual, a key highlight of the Sriram Leela celebrations, will be organised today by Dolamandap Sahi. The event will feature the appearance of Ravana and Hanuman as part of the vibrant Sahi Jata.
According to organisers, both characters will tour Dolamandap Sahi in the morning. In the evening, the procession will move through Kundheibenta Sahi and culminate at Jagannath Ballav, where the Lanka Podi ritual will be performed through a dramatic narration of the Ramayana.
Dolamandap Sahi Akhada Secretary Ananta Tiaadi said five groups are part of the event this year, with the Rabana role being performed by the Jadu Tiaadi group. Participants from Champagarh, Bajragarh Amin Sahi, Nua Tota Sahi, and Jagat Pratihari Sahi will also join the celebrations.
The procession will pass through several prime locations, including Labanikhia Chhak, Panchachoura, Jaduani Library, Hatajodi Thakurani Temple, and Pathara Akhada, before returning via Suar Sahi.
Around 15 to 20 akhadas are expected to participate in the event, adding to the festive fervour, said Akhada Secretary Basudev Tiaadi.
