Rising temperatures likely across Odisha; Kalbaisakhi activity to continue till March 31

Bhubaneswar, March 26: The temperature across Odisha is expected to rise in the coming days, with the daytime maximum likely to increase by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next two days, according to the Meteorological Department.

Despite the rise in temperature, Kalbaisakhi (nor’wester) activity is set to persist across the state. The weather office has forecast rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds with speeds reaching 40 to 50 km per hour at several places till March 28. Thunderstorm activity accompanied by rain is also likely to continue in parts of the state till March 31.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow warning for eight districts, cautioning residents about possible rain, lightning, thunder, and strong winds till 8:30 AM.

On Thursday, light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms is likely in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, and Koraput districts.

On Friday, similar weather conditions are expected in North Odisha, including northern coastal districts, as well as in some parts of southern Odisha.

Meanwhile, temperatures remained high in several parts of the state on Wednesday. Sonepur recorded 38°C, while Titlagarh registered 37.5°C. Most areas in western Odisha saw temperatures above 36°C. Bhubaneswar recorded 35.2°C, and Cuttack 34.4°C.
