Berhampur, March 28: The district administration has imposed strict restrictions on the conduct of Danda Nacha this year, banning obscene dances and songs during the traditional festival. Authorities have warned of stringent action against anyone found violating the guidelines.
According to officials, the Notified Area Council (NAC) has issued a set of regulations to ensure that the cultural sanctity of Danda Nacha is maintained in the Digapahandi region. The guidelines clearly prohibit any vulgar or inappropriate performances, including the use of obscene or double-meaning language in songs and acts.
The administration has directed that only traditional art forms, cultural programs, and devotional performances be staged, particularly during night events. Organisers have also been instructed to obtain prior permission from the local police after fulfilling all necessary conditions.
The notice further states that any deviation from the prescribed norms during the festival will invite legal action against the organisers and individuals concerned.
