President Droupadi Murmu celebrated her 68th birthday on Saturday in her native district of Mayurbhanj, Odisha. Having arrived in the district on Friday, the President marked the occasion by interacting with local residents and distributing chocolates among children.

Baripada, June 20: President Droupadi Murmu celebrated her 68th birthday on Saturday in her native district of Mayurbhanj, Odisha. Having arrived in the district on Friday, the President marked the occasion by interacting with local residents and distributing chocolates among children.

A heartwarming moment unfolded when President Murmu, after receiving birthday greetings from well-wishers outside her residence at Mahuldiha, chose not to immediately board her vehicle. Instead, she personally crossed the road and handed chocolates to children gathered to greet her.

 

Later in the day, the President travelled by a special helicopter to Pahadpur, where she is scheduled to participate in birthday-related engagements.

Birthday wishes poured in from across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings through a post on X, praising President Murmu’s courage, humility and unwavering commitment to public service. He said her life journey continues to inspire millions and highlighted her dedication towards the welfare of the underprivileged and marginalized sections of society.

Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati also conveyed his birthday greetings to the President.

Born on June 20, 1958, in Uparbeda village near Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district, Droupadi Murmu hails from a Santhal tribal family. From her early education in her native village to higher studies in Bhubaneswar and eventually becoming the President of India, her journey has been marked by perseverance and resilience.

Despite enduring personal tragedies, including the loss of her husband and two sons, Murmu continued her public service journey and rose to occupy the country's highest constitutional office, inspiring countless people across the nation.
