Bhubaneswar, July 4: A pregnant woman, Gitanjali Kharsel from Nuapada district, allegedly died after being denied treatment at Khariar Sub-Divisional Hospital amid the ongoing doctors' protest in Odisha.

According to her family, Gitanjali delivered her baby on the way to the hospital on Friday and was taken there for emergency post-delivery care. They alleged that doctors refused to treat her due to the strike. As her condition worsened, she was referred to a hospital in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, but she died on the way early Saturday.

The family has accused the hospital of negligence and demanded action against those responsible. Hospital authorities and the district administration had not issued an official statement at the time of reporting.
