Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ace swimmer Pratyasa Ray made the State proud by winning a gold and a bronze medal in the ongoing 79th Senior National Aquatic Championships 2026 at Ahmedabad. Pratyasa bagged the gold medal in the women’s 200m backstroke event and won a bronze medal in the women’s 50m backstroke event.
In the 200m backstroke heats, Pratyasa clocked 2:22.57 and qualified for the final, she bettered her timings and won the gold medal with a timing of 2:20.22. The silver and bronze medal won by Nisha of Karnataka and Jiya Yadav of Uttar Pradesh clocking 2:21.64 and 2:22.64 respectively.
Odia swimmer Pratyasa won bronze medal in the Women’s 50m backstroke event with 30.59sec. The gold and silver medals won by Suvana C Baskar of Karnataka and Jiya Yadav of Uttar Pradesh clocking 29,85 sec and 30.27 sec respectively. In the heats Pratyasa clocked 30.95 sec and qualified for the women’s 50m backstroke final.
