Prameya hosts Mother’s Day poetry contest, Sanskruti Palai secures first place

Prameya hosts Mother’s Day poetry contest, Sanskruti Palai secures first place

Bhubaneswar, May 11: On the occasion of Mother’s Day, leading Odia daily Prameya organized a state-level poetry recitation competition titled “Maa Pain Kabitatia” at its headquarters in Ghatikia, Bhubaneswar. Students from various parts of Odisha participated in the event, expressing their emotions and love for their mothers through self-written poems and songs.

Addressing the gathering, Prameya and News-7 Group Editor Gopal Krushna Mohapatra said there is no greater power than a mother and every achievement in life is possible because of her blessings and sacrifice. He said every day is Mother’s Day for children and mothers need only love and affection, not expensive gifts.

A total of 72 students participated in the competition held at the Prameya headquarters. Sanskruti Palai of Adyant Higher Secondary School secured the first position and received a medal, certificate, and cash prize of Rs 3,000. Suhana Khatun of DAV Public School, Pokhariput, bagged the second prize along with a medal, certificate, and Rs 2,000 cash award. Sanjana Das of Bina Bharati Vidya Mandir secured the third position and was awarded a medal, certificate, and Rs 1,000 cash prize. All participants were also presented with certificates and gifts.

Prameya Bhubaneswar Bureau Chief Debendra Suar, in his welcome address, said no one can replace a mother’s position in life. He added that such programmes are aimed at reminding children of the values of love, affection, and respect for mothers. He also highlighted Prameya’s commitment towards promoting social values and preserving Odia identity beyond journalism.

The programme began with a musical performance of “Maa Pari Kie Heba” by photojournalist and singer Swadesh Mohanty. Students also performed songs dedicated to mothers during the event.

Senior poet Surya Mishra, senior poetess Chirashree Indra Singh, and young poet Swayamsampanna Kar served as judges for the competition. Several senior members of the Prameya and News-7 editorial, circulation, advertisement, and digital teams were present on the occasion. The programme was conducted by Prameya Digital Head Saroj Kumar Sahu, while Bhubaneswar Circulation Team Leader Priyaranjan Jena delivered the vote of thanks.
