PM Modi Urges NDA Leaders to Protect Neo-Middle Class Gains, Calls for Accelerated Efforts Towards Viksit Bharat

New Delhi, June 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday addressed leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at a conclave marking 12 years of his government, highlighting the achievements of the past decade while outlining a vision for India's future development.

Speaking to Chief Ministers, alliance partners and senior NDA leaders, Modi stressed the importance of safeguarding the progress made by millions of Indians who have emerged from poverty and entered the neo-middle class.

"I believe that we must ensure that those who were poor yesterday and have now become part of the neo-middle class do not slip back. As a government and as public representatives, we must work tirelessly towards this goal," the Prime Minister said.

He asserted that the government has consistently worked with dedication to meet the aspirations of India's 1.4 billion citizens. Modi emphasized that the hopes of the youth, women, farmers and the middle class remain central to the government's development agenda.

The Prime Minister said that the vision of aViksit Bharat(Developed India) has evolved into a national mission embraced by every citizen rather than being confined to any individual or political party.

"For me, people represent God," he remarked, reiterating his commitment to public service.

Highlighting the significance of political stability, Modi credited the electorate for repeatedly placing its trust in his leadership. He said the country has moved beyond the era of coalition uncertainty that prevailed for decades before 2014.

"The people of the country have understood the importance of political stability at the national level. Their maturity has given me the opportunity to serve them for such a long period," he said.

Referring to India's economic performance amid global challenges, including the Covid-19 pandemic, the Prime Minister noted that the country has maintained robust growth while several major economies struggled. He pointed to the economy's 7.7 per cent growth rate in 2025-26 as a testament to the advantages of stable governance.

"This period has repeatedly demonstrated the benefits of having a stable government," Modi said.

The Prime Minister also highlighted measures aimed at strengthening the middle class, including tax reforms, rapid infrastructure expansion and initiatives to boost employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. According to him, these efforts have helped create a more predictable and opportunity-driven environment for citizens.

"For us, nothing is greater than the nation. When we work with the spirit of 'nation first', no decision becomes difficult," he said.

The event was particularly significant as Modi surpassed the tenure of India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, by completing 4,398 days in office as an elected Prime Minister. Unlike Nehru's initial years leading an interim government before India's first general elections, Modi's tenure reflects three successive electoral mandates.

The NDA conclave served as both a celebration of the government's 12-year journey and a platform to discuss future priorities. Leaders reviewed achievements in infrastructure, digital transformation, welfare delivery and national security, while reaffirming their commitment to achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047.

Concluding his address, Modi urged NDA partners to sustain the momentum of development and work collectively towards realizing the vision ofViksit Bharat.
