Somnath, May 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to take part in the grand Amrut Mahotsav celebrations at the iconic Somnath temple in Veraval, Gujarat, on May 11, according to a statement from a state government minister on Friday.

The event commemorates a historic milestone—75 years since the reconstruction and inauguration of the Somnath temple, an architectural and spiritual marvel, by India’s first President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. The temple, revered across the country and considered one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, has long been a symbol of cultural heritage and religious devotion.

The Prime Minister’s visit is expected to include participation in the ceremonial rituals and celebrations organized to honor the temple’s rich history and spiritual significance. In addition to the religious ceremonies, PM Modi will also engage with local communities through planned roadshows in and around Veraval, highlighting the cultural and historical importance of the region.

Officials indicated that the celebrations will feature a series of events reflecting both the temple’s architectural grandeur and its enduring role in India’s spiritual and cultural narrative. The occasion is also expected to draw devotees, tourists, and dignitaries from across the country, marking a significant moment in Gujarat’s religious and cultural calendar.

The Somnath temple, which has witnessed destruction and reconstruction multiple times in history, stands today as a testament to India’s resilience and heritage. The Amrut Mahotsav celebrations aim not only to honor the temple’s legacy but also to celebrate the unity and devotion that it inspires among millions of followers.
