Bhubaneswar, May 28: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Odisha to mark the second anniversary of the BJP government in the state, a move expected to energise the political atmosphere and boost party morale across Odisha.
The proposed visit assumes significance as it coincides with two years of the BJP’s historic rise to power in Odisha in 2024, bringing an end to the BJD’s long-standing rule in the state.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the development while addressing an ABVP national executive meeting. He said he had personally invited the Prime Minister during his recent visit to New Delhi.
“Four days ago, I met the Prime Minister in Delhi and invited him to visit Odisha,” Majhi stated. He added that June 12, June 20, and September 17 are among the dates currently being considered for the visit.
According to the Chief Minister, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) gave its approval for the visit a day before the announcement, following which preparations were initiated at the state level.
“We have already begun preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit,” Majhi said, indicating that the government is gearing up for a major public and political event.
The visit is expected to further strengthen coordination between the Centre and the Odisha government. During earlier meetings with the Chief Minister, Prime Minister Modi had reportedly stressed key areas such as infrastructure development, industrial investment, and the expansion of welfare initiatives to accelerate Odisha’s growth.
With preparations gathering pace, political observers and party workers are now eagerly awaiting the confirmation of the final date and the announcements that could accompany the Prime Minister’s high-profile visit to the state.
