Paradip Port drives Odisha’s blue economy through sustainable growth

Paradip Port Authority (PPA) successfully marked the 63rd National Maritime Day by reinforcing its transition toward a sustainable "Green Port" while celebrating record-breaking operational successes. This year's festivities, centered on empowering youth and the blue economy, brought together industry veterans and maritime experts to chart a future defined by environmental responsibility and digital transformation.

Record Growth and Strategic Stability

Leadership under Chairman Shri P.L. Haranadh has propelled the port to handle over 2,526 vessels in the past year. Beyond sheer volume, PPA played a critical role in global logistics by stabilizing supply chains for essential commodities like limestone and fertilizer during recent West Asia geopolitical tensions. Historically, Paradip has served as the gateway for mineral wealth from the hinterlands of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand, making its stability vital for India's industrial core.

Green Innovation and Safety Focus

PPA is currently integrating renewable energy and green fuels to align with the Maritime India Vision 2030. Chief Guest Shri A.K. Bose highlighted that the future of shipping relies on youth engagement and reducing the industry's carbon footprint. Modernization efforts now include expanded electrification and smart logistics systems designed to increase efficiency without compromising ecological safety.

Honoring Maritime Excellence

The event also recognized the grit of seafarers through seamanship challenges, including rope climbing and swimming competitions. Experts like Capt. P. Rout and Shri P.C. Majhi received accolades for their professional contributions. These celebrations emphasized that while technology advances, the human element remains the foundation of global trade.
