Puri, April 6: The Paita Lagiritual of Mahaprabhu is scheduled to be observed at the Shree Jagannath Temple on Monday. The ritual will be conducted by theDaitapati servitors, who perform this traditional servicefor the protection of the deities’ divine body (Sri Anga).
As part of the ritual, silk cloth (Patabastra) is twisted like a sacred thread and applied to the wooden idols of the deities. The servitors will enter the sanctum sanctorum and carry out the ritual collectively.
Due to this special niti, public darshan will be restricted. Sources indicate that darshan is likely to remain closed for around four hours during the afternoon. After the completion of the ritual and the ceremonial Mahasnan (holy bath), darshan will resume for devotees.
The Paita Lagi ritual will be performed after the second Bhogamandap niti, as per temple schedule.
