OYO rooms under watch as police crack down on sex rackets in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, March 23: In a bid to curb illegal sex rackets, OYO hotels in Bhubaneswar have been brought under strict surveillance, with police intensifying patrolling and raids across the city.

According to official sources, regular checks and enforcement drives have been underway since July 2024 under the Bhubaneswar Urban Police District to prevent such unlawful activities. The crackdown was further intensified between October and November 2025, with raids conducted in multiple locations, including hotels, rented houses, and slum areas.

Several persons, including property owners, middlemen, and those allegedly involved in operating the rackets, have been arrested during these operations.

The details were shared by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi in the State Assembly in response to a query raised by BJD MLA Ananta Narayan Jena.

The Chief Minister informed that a raid in the Laxmisagar area led to the arrest of a house owner, along with three middlemen and four customers. In a similar operation near Capital Hospital, police apprehended two middlemen and four customers from a rented house.

Authorities have indicated that such enforcement actions will continue as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle organized illegal activities in the city.
