Subarnapur, Ap 8: In a major anti-drug operation, Subalaya police seized more than 2,000 bottles of codeine cough syrup, valued at approximately Rs 10 lakh, from Durdura village on Wednesday. Two individuals have been detained in connection with the seizure.

According to authorities, the Subalaya police team, while on routine patrol, stopped an SUV traveling from Redhakhol to Subarnapur in Durdura village. Upon inspection, the officers discovered 13 boxes containing over 2,000 bottles of codeine syrup. The driver of the vehicle managed to escape, abandoning the SUV at the scene

“The two detained individuals were escorting the vehicle. Further investigation is underway to trace the fleeing driver and identify the source of the consignment,” a police official said.

Authorities have confirmed that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to curb the illegal circulation of controlled substances in the district.
