Bhubaneswar, May 18: Odisha is set to celebrate the glory of Lord Jagannath on a global scale. Efforts are underway to preserve and promote the rich Shri Jagannath culture worldwide. The state will establish a Shri Jagannath Museum and Interpretation Center, where visitors can experience the Lord’s rituals, avatars, traditions, and stories from the Skanda Purana through audiovisual presentations.
Reviewing the plans recently, Law Minister Prithwiraj Harichandan shared that the center will feature a modern auditorium with 300 seats, a visual-audio hall, and an open-air stage. The project is expected to cost approximately ₹1,000 crore.
The museum will showcase the history, philosophy, traditions, and the profound influence of Shri Jagannath culture on everyday life, presenting it to the world with in-depth research on ancient history and religious heritage. Special emphasis will be given to preserving ancient knowledge and traditions.
Rare manuscripts on palm leaves, traditional records, historical documents from old temples, and other archival materials will be digitized using modern technology. This will enable future generations to easily study, explore, and experience Odisha’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
The initiative will strengthen the protection, preservation, and global promotion of Shri Jagannath culture. With the blessings of Lord Jagannath, Odisha’s spiritual and cultural identity will remain closely intertwined with this sacred tradition, ensuring its continuity for generations to come.
The Odisha government is taking concrete steps to establish the Shri Jagannath Museum, Interpretation Center, library, and a global tourism center.
