Bhubaneswar, July 24: HCL Technologies has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Odisha government on Friday to establish a Global Technology Center in Bhubaneswar and its first AI Data Center at the upcoming Odisha Sovereign AI Park.

The agreements were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the Lok Seva Bhavan Convention Centre here.

The Global Technology Center is expected to begin operations by 2028. It will house 5,000 employees and focus on developing and delivering AI-led digital solutions for global enterprises.

The technology centre will complement HCLTech's proposed AI Data Center, which will be developed in partnership with AI startup Sarvam and the Government of Odisha.

The Global Technology Centre alone will attract an investment of approximately ₹730 crore, strengthening Odisha's IT ecosystem and creating more than 6,000 direct employment opportunities for highly skilled professionals.

The Chief Minister announced that the two projects together are expected to attract investments worth ₹15,000 crore over the next five years, marking one of the largest technology investments in the state's history.

The Chief Minister Majhi said the partnerships would accelerate technology-driven economic growth while creating high-quality employment opportunities for thousands of educated youth in the state.

According to the Chief Minister, Sarvam AI has already developed AI platforms and applications in Odia and other major Indian languages. The establishment of the AI Park and Data Centre in Odisha will enable the state to become a key centre for delivering AI-powered services in Odia as well as multiple Indian languages.

HCL Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra reaffirmed the company's commitment to investing in Odisha.

She thanked the state government for its support and said HCL's expansion plans were inspired by the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. She also praised Odisha's successful AI conference held recently, saying it demonstrated the state's readiness to become a leading destination for artificial intelligence. Announcing the establishment of the AI Park, she described it as a major milestone in Odisha's AI journey.
