​​​​​​​Bhubaneswar, July 23: The holy town of Puri is fully prepared for the Bahuda Yatra, the return journey of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra from the Gundicha Temple to the Shree Jagannath Temple, scheduled for Friday.

Preparations have entered the final phase with the three majestic chariots—Nandighosha, Taladhwaja and Darpadalana—completing the ceremonial Dakshina Moda(southward turn). The chariots are now stationed at Nakachana Dwara, facing the Singhadwara (Lion's Gate), ready to be pulled along the 3-km Grand Road (Bada Danda). Traditional Biswakarma servitors have inspected and made the chariots ready for the return journey.

Inspector General of Police (Central Range), Dr. Satyajit Naik, said more than 13,000 police personnel, along with central armed forces including the NSG, RAF, BSF and CRPF, have been deployed to ensure smooth crowd management and security during the festival.

Before the chariots proceed to the Jagannath Temple, the sibling deities will halt at the Mausi Maa Temple to receive the traditional Poda Pitha, a special baked rice cake offered as part of the Bahuda Yatra rituals.

With the India Meteorological Department forecasting heavy rainfall, the district administration has made elaborate arrangements to tackle any adverse weather. Special drainage systems have been installed along the Grand Road to prevent waterlogging and ensure the smooth movement of devotees.

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has also issued the latest ritual schedule, timings and traffic advisories for pilgrims.

Earlier, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reviewed the preparations and directed officials to ensure the festival is conducted safely and smoothly.
