Bhubaneswar, May 9:The second Lok Adalat of 2026, organized today by the Khordha District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), successfully settled over 40,000 cases, resolving disputes worth Rs 8.84 crore across the district’s courts and revenue complexes.
The Lok Adalat was conducted across all trial division courts and revenue court complexes in Khordha district, including Bhubaneswar, Khordha, Banapur, Chilika, Tangi, Begunia, and Jatani. Out of 73,329 cases listed for hearing, 40,236 were disposed of through mutual settlements and conciliation.
The resolved cases resulted in a total recovery of Rs 8,84,83,650, collected through revenue realization, fines, and amicable agreements between parties. The disputes addressed spanned criminal compoundable cases, cheque bounce matters, bank recovery cases, motor vehicle accident claims, labour disputes, traffic violations, and various public utility cases.
In addition, the Lok Adalat also handled matrimonial disputes (excluding divorce cases), land acquisition issues, revenue and civil matters, and pre-litigation cases related to non-payment of bank loans, telephone bills, and electricity dues.
District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman of the Khordha DLSA, Biranchi Narayan Mohanty, praised the efforts of all judicial officers and associated departments for the Lok Adalat’s success. He also thanked the revenue officials, regional bank managers, and representatives from the telecom and insurance sectors for their cooperation in ensuring smooth settlements.
He congratulated participating advocates for their contribution to dispute resolution and urged them to prepare thoroughly for the upcoming National Lok Adalat to achieve even greater efficiency.
