Bhubaneswar, July 13: Odisha has recorded significant achievements under the 100-Day TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2.0, reinforcing its commitment to the national goal of eliminating Tuberculosis (TB).
The campaign, launched nationwide on 24 March 2026 under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), was implemented across all 30 districts of the state by the Department of Health & Family Welfare.
Between 24 March and 5 July 2026, the campaign witnessed extensive community participation and strengthened public health interventions focused on early TB detection, preventive treatment, nutritional support, and public awareness.
A total of 4,470 TB screening camps were organised across urban, rural, and remote areas, attracting participation from more than 3.44 lakh people. Through systematic community-based screening, over 5.18 lakh individuals were screened for Tuberculosis.
The campaign also made significant strides in preventive care, with 9,013 household contacts of TB patients initiated on TB Preventive Treatment (TPT) to reduce future transmission. In addition, 28,348 Poshan Kits were distributed to TB patients through the Ni-kshay Mitra Initiative, highlighting the importance of nutritional support in TB treatment and recovery.
A key highlight of the campaign was the widespread public participation, with contributions from elected representatives, government officials, healthcare workers, district administrations, civil society organisations, educational institutions, corporate partners, community leaders, volunteers, and development partners. Frontline health workers, including ASHAs, ANMs, Community Health Officers, and District TB Centre teams, played a vital role in extending screening and awareness services to vulnerable and high-risk populations.
Special screening camps, awareness drives, school and college outreach programmes, and targeted interventions in underserved communities helped improve access to quality TB services while promoting early diagnosis, treatment adherence, and stigma reduction.
