Bhubaneswar, July 5: Reinforcing the Odisha Government's commitment to developing modern, resilient, and citizen-centric urban centres, the Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra will launch 494 development projects under the Mukhyamantri Sahari Bikas Yojana (MSBY)across the state on Monday.
Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra will virtually inaugurate completed projects and lay foundation stones for new initiatives during a state-level programme scheduled for Monday afternoon.
The projects, spread across37 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), involve a total investment of ₹74.87 crore (₹7,487.46 lakh). The initiative aims to strengthen urban infrastructure, improve civic amenities, and enhance the quality of life for urban residents across Odisha.
As part of the programme,344 completed projects in3 1 ULBs, executed at a cost of ₹36.89 crore (₹3,688.73 lakh), will be dedicated to the public. These projects include roads, drainage systems, community infrastructure, and other public utility assets designed to provide immediate benefits to citizens.
Among the ULBs, Boudhgarh has completed the highest number of projects with 58 works, followed by Basudevpur with 54 projects and Rourkela with 34 projects.
In the next phase, foundation stones will be laid for 150 new projects across 19 ULBs, with an estimated investment of ₹37.99 crore (₹3,798.73 lakh). Cuttack Municipal Corporation will see the launch of 50 projects worth ₹17.20 crore (₹1,720.23 lakh), while Rayagada will begin work on 22 new projects, marking a significant boost to urban infrastructure in these areas.
The H&UD Department has made comprehensive arrangements for the smooth conduct of the programme. All Municipal Commissioners and Executive Officers have been directed to participate virtually through the Odisha State Wide Area Network (OSWAN)and ensure necessary coordination and logistical arrangements at their respective ULBs.
The large-scale rollout of projects under MSBY underscores the State Government's continued focus on expanding urban infrastructure and delivering development that directly improves civic services and the quality of life for people across Odisha.
