Bhubaneswar, April 15: Odisha's Minister for Higher Education, Sports & Youth, Suryabanshi Suraj, met with Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati on the occasion of the Odia New Year.
Governor Kambhampati highlighted the significance of the day, saying, " Maha Vishuba Sankranti marks the Odia New Year, along with the celebrations of Pana Sankranti, Hanuman Jayanti, Babasaheb Ambedkar's birth anniversary."
The Governor went on to offer his blessings, stating, "We pray to Lord Jagannath for the well-being of all Odia people and all Indians, wishing them a prosperous year ahead."
Discussing the importance of promoting Odisha's rich cultural heritage, Governor Kambhampati said, "We celebrate from Odisha Day to the New Year to introduce our traditional Odia art forms to the younger generation. Our tribal communities hold a treasure trove of rich culture, and to showcase it, the state has organized 'Odia Pakhya.' This initiative is designed to advance the Odia identity, under the inspiration of both the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister."
'Odia Pakhya' is a statewide cultural festival held annually from April 1 to April 14. It aims to celebrate the state's diverse culture, heritage, language, and traditions, starting with Utkal Divas (Odisha Day) and concluding on Maha Vishuba Sankranti (Odia New Year).
