Odisha govt. doubles rice milling charges for millers: CM Majhi accords approval

Under the revised rates, the milling charge for parboiled rice (usuna) has been doubled from Rs 20 to Rs 40 per quintal. Similarly, the milling prices for raw rice (sun-dried) have been increased from Rs 10 to Rs 20 per quintal.

Bhubaneswar, June 5: In a significant move for a robust food security & paddy processing, the Odisha government has doubled the rice milling charges for the millers.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday approved the hike in rice milling charges.

Under the revised rates, the milling charge for parboiled rice (usuna) has been doubled from Rs 20 to Rs 40 per quintal. Similarly, the milling prices for raw rice (sun-dried) have been increased from Rs 10 to Rs 20 per quintal.

In a significant move aimed at supporting the rice milling industry, the Odisha government has increased the rice milling charges, said a CMO release.

The decision is expected to provide substantial financial relief to rice millers and strengthen the state’s paddy procurement and also its processing.
