Bhubaneswar, August 3: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday reaffirmed that the State Government stands firmly with every family affected by the recent floods and will continue to provide all necessary assistance until normalcy is restored.

In a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said he personally conducted an aerial survey of the flood-hit areas and announced an initial relief package of Rs 110 crore for the affected people. He added that Rs 26 crore had already been released in advance to the worst-affected districts to support immediate relief measures.

Majhi said Gratuitous Relief (GR) assistance will continue to be provided to all eligible beneficiaries until the situation returns to normal. The government announced that under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) norms, financial assistance has been announced for damaged houses

• Housing assistance under SDRF:
  • Rs 1,20,000 for fully damaged houses.
  • Rs 8,000 for collapsed huts.
  • Rs 6,500 for partially damaged pucca houses.
  • Rs 4,000 for partially damaged kutcha houses.
  • Rs 3,000 for damaged cattle sheds.
• Compensation for crop and horticulture losses:
  • Rs 8,500 per hectare for unirrigated land.
  • Rs 17,000 per hectare for irrigated land.
  • Rs 22,500 per hectare for perennial crops.
• Ex gratia assistance:
  • Under SDRF norms, a total of Rs 24 lakh has been sanctioned as ex gratia assistance to the next of kin of thesix personswho lost their lives in flood-related incidents.
• Compensation for livestock losses:
  • Rs 37,500 per milch animal (cow/buffalo).
  • Rs 32,000 per draught animal (bullock/buffalo/horse).
  • Rs 20,000 per calf, donkey or mule.
  • Rs 4,000 per goat or sheep.
• Relief distribution and rescue operations:
  • 41 quintals of rice,1,115 quintals of flattened rice (chuda), 496 quintals of jaggery, and 1,816 metric tonnes of cattle feed have been distributed in the affected areas.
  • 199 rescue teams have been deployed on the ground. Relief and rehabilitation work is being carried out on a war footing, particularly in Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur districts.

The entire administration is continuously monitoring the flood situation. After the final damage assessment, all necessary financial assistance will be provided for the restoration of damaged infrastructure.
