Bhubaneswar, May 7: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed profound grief over the tragic killing of a youth in Balianta, Bhubaneswar, and has directed the police to carry out a thorough investigation while ensuring strict action against those responsible.

The Chief Minister spoke directly with Director General of Police Y.B. Khurania, instructing authorities to conduct a swift and impartial probe and take the strongest possible measures against the perpetrators.

Majhi also stressed the importance of heightened vigilance to prevent similar mob lynching incidents in the future, directing law enforcement to uphold the rule of law firmly across the state. So far, the police have arrested four individuals in connection with the case, with investigations ongoing.

In addition, the Chief Minister held discussions with State Women’s Commission Chairperson Shobhana Mohanty regarding the incident. Chairperson Mohanty is scheduled to visit Balianta tomorrow to meet with women who reportedly faced abuse during the incident, aiming to gather comprehensive facts and understand all aspects of the case.
