Bhubaneswar, April 7: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday urged industrialists and mine leaseholders to ramp up iron ore production to meet increasing demand during a high-level meeting. He assured full state support to enhance output, focusing on improving production and dispatch operations while adhering to regulatory limits.
The CM encouraged setting up more industries in mineral-rich districts to foster regional development and pledged government assistance in securing facilities and clearances.
Pointing out that mineral-rich districts in Odisha are home to fewer industries, the Chief Minister encouraged industrialists to establish more units in these areas to promote balanced regional development. He assured that the state government would provide all necessary facilities and clearances to boost iron ore production. At the same time, he emphasized that industries should focus on addressing the basic needs of local communities.
To streamline industrial growth, the state government is compiling a database of available land for compensatory afforestation across districts. This initiative aims to help mine leaseholders and industrialists identify suitable land parcels for compliance and project development.
To expedite the auction process, the government has also prepared an annual auction calendar for 2026-27, officials confirmed.
Naveen Jindal, Chairman of the Indian Steel Association, lauded the Chief Minister’s proactive approach and commitment to industrial development in Odisha.
The meeting was attended by leading industrial figures including T.V. Narendran, Alok Sahay, Anil Kumar Singh, Alok Kumar Mehta, and representatives from Tata Steel and other firms.
