Delhi, April 18: Delhi police Special Cell (NDR) has arrested four radicalised youth from three states — Maharashtra (2), Odisha (1), Bihar (1).
The accused were inspired by the ideology of establishing a Caliphate and believed in the emergence of a “lashkar from Khurasan” with black flags. They were allegedly preparing to participate in “Ghazwa-e-Hind” and were actively radicalising and recruiting others through encrypted social media groups.
An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was recovered from one accused. Two members were collecting locally sourced materials to assemble a remote-controlled IED for a potential terror attack.
One accused allegedly raised funds via QR code/bank details to support jihad activities and promised to arrange arms and physical training: Delhi Police.
Earlier on Sunday the Odisha Crime Branch's Special Task Force (STF) was designated as the primary agency to lead the investigation into the suspected terror links of a Bhubaneswar-based man, Sheikh Imran.
The 22-year-old Sheikh Imran was apprehended on Friday by a combined team from Odisha and Delhi Police on charges of involvement in anti-national activities.
"We are exploring all possible leads in this case, including his social connections, associates, financial transactions, family background, and employment history," said SP (STF) Rabindra Nath Satpathy.
