Kendrapara, Apr 16: A 32-year-old migrant worker from Odisha was brutally murdered in Telangana, prompting his family to seek government intervention for justice. The deceased has been identified as Avinash Parida, son of Sarbeswar Parida of Thakurpatna village under Sisidha Panchayat in Aali police station limits of Kendrapara district.

According to sources, Avinash was working in the Kokapet area of Telangana. On January 14, coinciding with Makar Sankranti, he had gone from the Goshala Labour Colony to Gandipet to visit the Alekh Mela. While returning after the fair, he was allegedly intercepted by three unidentified miscreants who robbed him of his mobile phone, wallet and other belongings. The assailants reportedly threatened him and later killed him in a brutal manner.

Avinash is said to have sought help from passing vehicles after being threatened, but no assistance came his way. His body was later recovered near a cowshed in the Gandipet area.

Following the incident, the victim’s younger brother, Abhishek Parida, lodged a complaint at the Narsingh police station in Telangana, alleging murder by three unknown persons. Despite three days having passed since the incident, police are yet to make any breakthrough or arrest in the case.

The incident has cast a shadow of grief over Thakurpatna village, with family members and locals demanding swift action and justice. The family has appealed to the government for support and a thorough investigation into the murder.

Sources said the post-mortem examination was conducted in Telangana and the last rites of the deceased have been completed there.
