Hyderabad, Jul 9: In an unusual yet completely legal transaction, a man in Telangana purchased a motorcycle worth Rs 1.10 lakh using 11,000 coins of Rs 10 each, proving that legal tender can be used for purchases regardless of its form.

The incident took place at Sri Vinayaka Motors in Chityal, Telangana, where a customer identified as Raghupati arrived to buy a new motorcycle. Instead of carrying cash notes, a cheque, or making a digital payment through UPI, he brought bags filled with Rs 10 coins to pay the entire amount.

Initially surprised by the mode of payment, the showroom staff accepted the coins after verifying that Rs 10 coins are valid legal tender issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The employees patiently counted all 11,000 coins, amounting to Rs 1, 10,000, before completing the sale and handing over the motorcycle to the customer.

The sheer volume of coins made the counting process a challenging task for the showroom staff. The unusual scene attracted the attention of employees and visitors, many of whom recorded videos of the transaction. The clips have since gone viral on social media, drawing widespread admiration for both the customer's determination and the showroom's willingness to honour legal currency.

The incident also serves as a reminder that Rs 10 coins are valid legal tender in India, and businesses are legally permitted to accept them for transactions. The remarkable purchase has become a talking point online, with many hailing it as one of the most unusual vehicle purchases in recent times.
