Baidyanathpur, Jul 15: A dispute over profit-sharing at a cement pole manufacturing unit led to the arrest of a man by Baidyanathpur Police for allegedly assaulting his relative and threatening to extort ₹80 lakh.

The accused, identified as Maniraj Sahu, alias Mani, was taken into custody following allegations that he attacked his cousin after a disagreement over the distribution of profits from their jointly associated cement pole manufacturing business.

According to police, the accused also allegedly threatened the victim, demanding ₹80 lakh and warning of serious consequences if the money was not paid.

Based on the complaint, Baidyanathpur Police registered a case and arrested Maniraj Sahu.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the dispute and the alleged extortion threat.
