Bhubaneswar: The national-level Kabaddi and Tug of War Championship, organised by Bichitra Charitable Trust on the occasion of the Raja festival, has concluded on .
The four-day championship was held at the playground of Madanpur High School on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar. In men’s Kabaddi, Kolkata Police became champions, while Patnaik Academy finished as runners-up. In the women’s category, West Bengal emerged champions and the Chhattisgarh team secured the runners-up position.
A total of 16 teams participated in Kabaddi. Teams from Odisha included Jatani, One Voice, Jai Odisha Aska, Patnaik Academy, GNSO, Sambalpur, KIIT, Rainbow, Nuapada, Kalinga Stadium and RSP. Teams from outside the state included Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Bhopal and Kolkata Police.
The men’s champions were awarded ₹50,000 along with the trophy, while the runners-up received ₹30,000 and a trophy. In the women’s category, the champions received ₹30,000 and the runners-up were awarded ₹20,000 along with trophies.
Bichitra Charitable Trust convener and senior journalist Ardhendu Das, politician Manmath Routray, Bishudhananda Behera and Surajit Mangaraj attended as guests and presented the awards.
