Iron-Laden trailer accident triggers massive traffic jam on NH-326 in Rayagada

Rayagada, June 27: Traffic movement came to a complete halt on the Koraput–Rayagada stretch of National Highway-326 after an iron-laden trailer met with an accident at Guma Ghat in Odisha's Rayagada district in the early hours of Saturday.

According to reports, the accident occurred at around 12:30 am. The trailer remained stranded on the highway after the mishap, blocking the road and causing a massive traffic jam that continued through the night and into Saturday morning.

Hundreds of buses, trucks and other vehicles were left stranded on both sides of the highway. Many passengers and commuters spent the night in the forested ghat section as traffic remained completely disrupted.

The prolonged blockade also severely affected the movement of goods vehicles, leaving truck drivers stranded for several hours and disrupting transport services along the busy highway.

As of Saturday morning, commuters alleged that no authorities had reached the accident site to clear the damaged trailer and restore traffic. Frustrated travellers questioned the delay in the administration's response despite several hours having passed since the accident.

Commuters and transport operators have urged the authorities to immediately remove the stranded trailer and restore normal traffic on NH-326. The prolonged disruption has caused significant inconvenience to passengers and raised concerns over the delayed emergency response.
