IPL 2026: RCB team pays tribute to last year’s lost lives by wearing Jersey 11 and black arm band

Franchise honours lost supporters with special jerseys

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will honor the tragic loss of 11 supporters who perished in a stampede following their maiden championship victory last season. During their upcoming IPL 2026 opening home match, players are scheduled to sport jersey number 11 during pre-match warm-ups. Team members will also wear black armbands throughout the main event. Keeping the memory of these devoted followers alive, stadium officials are leaving 11 designated seats vacant at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Chief Executive Officer Rajesh Menon shared these heartfelt details on Tuesday, calling this RCB tribute to fans a permanent reminder of their bond with the team. Odiya cricket fans tuning in will witness a deeply emotional start to the tournament.

Upgraded Crowd Management Protocols

Ensuring visitor security is now the top priority for the franchise. Executives have poured roughly ₹7 crore into completely overhauling the venue's infrastructure. New AI-driven CCTV systems, powered by a tool named Jarvis, will constantly monitor crowd density inside the stands, concourse areas, and surrounding streets. Real-time data will flow directly to local police authorities to prevent overcrowding and issue instant alerts. Furthermore, the state cricket association and the team have finalized stricter emergency plans. These updated procedures cover everything from regular match days to potential victory parades, ensuring that Royal Challengers Bengaluru updates remain focused on the sport rather than safety hazards.

Seamless Entry For Spectators

Matchday logistics have seen a massive revamp based on police recommendations to handle the massive influx of supporters. Gates will welcome attendees four hours before the first ball is bowled, giving everyone ample time to pass through newly installed baggage command centers. For added convenience, RCB match tickets now include direct metro access, and spectators can reserve their parking spots well in advance. Menon noted that all these preparations have been running on high alert since last June. Because the franchise is entirely focused on delivering a flawless experience at their five home fixtures, organizers decided to cancel the annual Unbox event completely this year.
