Puri, Ap 8: The second phase of inventory and valuation of the outer treasure trove of the presiding deities at the world-famous Jagannath Temple in Puri is set to begin today.
The enumeration of the Ratna Bhandar will take place over three days-April 8, 9, and 10. All the ornaments in the Bahara Ratna Bhandar would be fully accounted for by the conclusion of the third day.
The treasury keys will be brought, and the Ratna Bhandar will be opened in the presence of the District Collector.
The outer treasury contains around 8,175 gold items across 79 categories and 4,671 silver items across 39 categories. Administrative teams will begin the inventory process inside the temple after 10:00 AM.
During this period, devotees will be able to have darshan only from the outer hall, as access to the inner sanctum will be restricted. The temple administration will coordinate staff activities to ensure safety and orderly conduct, with only authorized sevayats permitted inside the Jagmohan and Garbhagriha for inventory purposes.
Per a prior administrative decision, counting will also be conducted on Saturdays to complete all procedures efficiently. This information has been issued for public awareness.
