Khordha, April 8: In a shocking incident, a four-month-old infant boy was allegedly stolen from Nirakarpur Railway Station in Odisha’s Khordha district late at night. The baby was sleeping beside his parents on the platform when the incident took place.

According to sources, the couple-identified as Prashant Kumar Pradhan and his wife from Kalamatia village under Ranpur police limits in Nayagarh district-had halted at the station for the night along with their child. In the early hours, around 2 to 3 AM, they discovered that their infant son was missing.

The parents reportedly searched frantically but failed to trace the child. They also alleged lack of immediate assistance at the time. Later in the morning, with the help of local social workers, including Bidhubhushan Maharana, a written complaint was lodged at the Nirakarpur Railway Police Outpost.

The grieving parents, in a state of distress, appealed for help to locate their missing child. The incident has triggered concern among locals, who termed it rare and deeply disturbing. Youth groups in the area have demanded swift action and immediate recovery of the infant.

Meanwhile, officials of the railway police outpost said an investigation has been initiated and multiple angles are being probed to trace the missing child.
