Indian deaf women cricketers secure historic series sweep abroad

Indian women cricketers have registered an exceptional performance during their inaugural international tour. Playing against Sri Lanka, India Deaf Women's Cricket team secured a brilliant five-match T20 series whitewash at Moratuwa. Restricting the host side to a mere 40 runs during the final clash, they comfortably chased the target with seven wickets remaining.

Odisha's very own Dipti Rani Sahoo featured in this historic 15-member national squad, amplifying regional pride by contributing to India's first ever overseas triumph in deaf women's cricket.

Dominating On Foreign Soil

Athletes from both nations played multiple fixtures at De Soysa International Cricket Stadium. Following the ultimate match, organizers hosted a beautiful closing ceremony to honor the champions. Top dignitaries, including Sri Lankan Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage and Indian Deputy High Commissioner Maitrey Kulkarni, attended the festive event. Kulkarni presented the championship trophy to the victorious Indian squad.

Indian Deaf Cricket Association President Sumit Jain praised the remarkable skill displayed by the athletes. He noted that their commanding performance proves they are fully equipped to excel on international platforms. Jain expressed deep gratitude to the Sri Lankan authorities and stadium staff for their exceptional hospitality and ongoing support throughout the week.

Individual Brilliance Recognized

Several Indian players received special accolades for their outstanding on-field contributions. Officials named Shradda Vaishnav Player of the Final Match, while Chandani Khan earned Best Bowler honors. Needa Zabi Shaikh took home the Best Batter award, and Reddy Jyoshna claimed the highly coveted Player of the Series title.
