​​​​​​​Phulbani, Jan 17: In a tragic incident in Odisha’s Phulbani, an auto-rickshaw driver was charred to death and three others on board the car, became critical following a front-to-front collision between the two vehicle.

The fatal head-on collision took place near Vetkhal Ghat in the Datapaju area of Phulbani on Saturday evening.

According to sources, an auto-rickshaw was heading towards Phulbani while a speeding car was passing by the Vetkhal-Ghat from the other side. Meanwhile, the speeding car hit the auto-rickshaw causing a fire following the violent crash. As a result, the driver of the auto-rickshaw was trapped inside the vehicle and was burnt on the spot alive.

Apart from it, three passengers travelling in the auto-rickshaw and one on board the car sustained severe burn injuries in the mishap.

On receiving information, three fire tenders from Phulbani Fire Services, along with police personnel, rushed to the spot and initiated dousing operation. Meanwhile, the injured ones were rescued and sent for treatment

The Police have registered a case, seized the body and launched further investigation into the matter.
