Bhubaneswar, Mar 30: Odisha has made a strong mark at the 17th CIDC Viswakarma Awards 2026, with 15 projects from the state shortlisted for the prestigious awards instituted by the Construction Industry Development Council (CIDC), New Delhi.
Architect Tara Prasad Dhal and engineer Ashok Kumar Basa will be honoured with the Industry Doyen Award for their outstanding contributions to Odisha’s construction sector.
The awards ceremony, along with the unveiling of a book on lean construction technology co-authored by former Works Department engineer-in-chief Manoranjan Mishra, is scheduled to take place on April 10 in New Delhi.
This year, CIDC received around 1,550 applications across various categories from across India. Odisha’s entries, representing both public and private sectors, span key infrastructure projects including buildings, highways, and irrigation.
Notable projects from the state include the Lokayukta Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, the Aquatic Centre and Badminton High-Performance Centre ‘Shuttle’ under the Sports Department, package OD 07 of the Raipur-Visakhapatnam economic corridor in Koraput, the 250-bed postgraduate hospital block for mother and child in Jajpur, five irrigation projects of the Water Resources Department, and three works department projects.
“It is indeed a proud moment for the state to have a number of spectacular entries selected for the awards in different categories. It gives extraordinary recognition to the work of architects and engineers executing projects under challenging conditions,” said architect Tara Prasad Dhal.
