Sambalpur, July 9: Security has been significantly tightened around the Hirakud Dam ahead of the release of the season's first floodwater on Friday. To ensure smooth conduct of the operation, the Sambalpur District Collector and District Magistrate have declared the entire main dam and its adjoining areas a 'No-Flying Zone'.
As per the official order, the operation of drones, microlight aircraft, and all other manned or unmanned aerial vehicles within the notified zone has been prohibited without prior permission from the District Magistrate. The restriction has been imposed to maintain security and prevent any disruption during the floodwater discharge.
The administration has warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the order by operating drones or other aerial devices without authorization.
Meanwhile, the district administration has appealed to media personnel and the general public to strictly adhere to the restrictions and cooperate with officials to ensure foolproof security arrangements during the floodwater release from the Hirakud Dam.
