NewYork, May 4: Hollywood actor Beau Starr, best known for his role in the Halloween franchise, has passed away at the age of 81.
Starr died of natural causes on April 24 in Vancouver, as confirmed by his brother.
Before his acting career, Starr was a professional football player, playing for the New York Jets in the NFL and the Montreal Alouettes and Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL. He transitioned to acting in the late 1970s, making his first television appearance on Bizarre in 1979 and appearing in a 1980 play at the American Theatre of Actors.
Throughout the 1980s, Starr appeared in both television and film, including episodes of Three’s Company (1983) and Highway to Heaven, as well as roles in The Lonely Guy, The A-Team, The Fall Guy, and Fletch.
Starr became a familiar face to horror fans with his portrayal of Sheriff Ben Meeker in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) and reprised the role in Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers. In 1990, he also appeared in Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas, playing the father of Ray Liotta’s character, Henry Hill.
Christopher Serrone, who portrayed young Henry in Goodfellas, shared a tribute on Instagram:
"It is with a heavy heart I'm here to inform everyone of the very sad passing of Beau Starr. Mike Starr asked me to make the announcement. Beau enjoyed a rich and meaningful life. He was a son, brother, father, grandfather, actor and NFL/CFL player. Please take a moment to help me remember a great guy. RIP."
Over the years, Starr appeared in numerous other projects, including the NBC crime drama True Blue, 2000 Malibu Road, Bad Blood, Speed, NYPD Blue, Leap Years, Doc, Final Days on Planet Earth, and Psych, leaving behind a legacy of versatile performances across film and television.
