New Delhi, March 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Tuesday that the government is actively seeking to secure gas and crude oil from all possible sources, emphasizing that this effort will continue in the coming days. He attributed the global energy crisis to the ongoing conflict in West Asia, which has escalated the situation significantly.
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Modi expressed deep concern over the war in West Asia and reaffirmed India's commitment to promoting peace in the region through dialogue and diplomacy. He reiterated that India's primary goal is the de-escalation of the conflict and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, aiming to encourage all parties to seek peaceful resolutions to their disputes.
The Prime Minister warned that if the crisis in West Asia persists, it could have severe global consequences.
On India’s energy security initiatives, Modi highlighted that over the past 11 years, the country has successfully established 53 lakh metric tons of strategic oil reserves. Furthermore, the government is working to expand this capacity by an additional 65 lakh metric tons. He also announced the commencement of a Rs 70,000-crore project aimed at manufacturing ships, which will bolster India’s energy security efforts.
