Patnagarh, May 15: With Savitri Amavasya slated for tomorrow, married women across the region are preparing to observe the traditional fast for the long life and well-being of their husbands.

In the lead-up to the festival, fruit shops in Patnagarh town have seen a heavy rush, with devotees and their families buying offerings for the sacred Savitri vrat.

The rising prices of fruits, which form an essential part of the ritual, have put additional pressure on devotees’ budgets.

Shopkeepers said the demand has been unusually high as people strive to maintain age-old traditions and ensure all necessary items are ready for the observance.
