Five members of a family, including three children, were killed and four others seriously injured in a road accident in Jharkhand’s Simdega district on Thursday, police said.

Simdega, June 12: Five members of a family, including three children, were killed and four others seriously injured in a road accident in Jharkhand’s Simdega district on Thursday, police said.

Among the deceased were Gulam Mustafa (58) and his wife Gulshan Ara (48), both residents of Lohardaga district. The other victims included Anabya Parveen (3), daughter of Mihsin Hashmi of Ranchi’s Doranda; Aayra Naaz (18 months), daughter of Arshi Hashmi of Simdega’s Kolebira; and Md Arsh Hashmi (8).

The accident took place at Agharma in the Kolebira area in the late afternoon when the vehicle, travelling from Ranchi to Simdega, reportedly lost control and crashed into a roadside tree, a senior police officer said.

Simdega Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dharamdeo Paswan confirmed the incident, stating that a woman, a man, and three children died on the spot after the impact.

The injured were immediately rushed to a hospital in Ranchi, where two of them are said to be in critical condition.
