Bhubaneswar, May 16: Two persons were killed and a six-year-old girl sustained critical injuries in a tragic road accident involving a Scorpio SUV and a motorcycle near Forest Park under Kuchinda police limits in Sambalpur district on Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Deepak Munda and Shiva Munda of Kusumi Jamanakira village under Mahulpali police station limits. According to sources, the duo, along with the minor girl, had gone to Kuchinda Medical to visit a relative and were returning home when the mishap occurred.
The accident took place after their motorcycle collided head-on with a Scorpio near Forest Park. The impact of the collision was so severe that the riders were thrown off the bike. Deepak and Shiva died on the spot, while the six-year-old girl suffered grievous injuries.
Locals rescued the injured child and shifted her to Burla Medical College and Hospital for treatment. On being informed, police reached the spot, seized the vehicles and launched an investigation into the incident.
