Eminent writer Sadananda Tripathy passes away

Bhubaneswar, April 2: Renowned writer and former banker, Sadananda Tripathy, passed away on Thursday at his residence in Bhubaneswar. He had been suffering from heart disease for the past few days and was 70 years old. His last rites were performed in Puri Swargadwara, where his family, including his son-in-laws Sudhanshu and Priyabrata, were present.

Sadananda Tripathy was born on April 16, 1956, in Krupasindhupur village in the Shergarh block of Ganjam district. He began his literary career in 1975 and remained deeply involved in the field of literature for decades. Over the years, he authored 16 books, and his work has been widely appreciated. In 2003, his short story collection Sati earned him the Odisha Sahitya Akademi Award.

One of his most notable works, ‘Anya Jane Sadanandaṅka Mrityu Pare’, is a popular short story collection known for its simplicity and depth. Among his other well-known stories are Ranganath Ghadei, Jhada Poka Pare, Andhare Dine, and his final book, Deshchar.

Sadananda Tripathy worked at SBI for 34 years. A pall of gloom descended over the literary world.
