East Coast Railway deploys AI Robot ‘DSC ARJUN’ to enhance passenger safety

Bhubaneswar, Jul 22: In a major step towards strengthening railway security, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has introduced an advanced Artificial Intelligence-powered robot named "DSC ARJUN" to improve passenger safety and surveillance at railway stations.

Developed at a cost of approximately ₹40 lakh, the AI-enabled robot is equipped with seven 360-degree cameras and advanced intelligent monitoring systems. It can detect passengers moving dangerously close to railway tracks, identify fire incidents, and instantly alert railway authorities for a quick response.

The robot also features facial recognition technology to scan and identify suspected criminals while continuously monitoring passenger movement through its onboard surveillance cameras. In addition, it will provide real-time announcements about approaching trains, enhancing passenger convenience.

As part of its initial deployment, DSC ARJUN will be stationed at Puri Railway Station until the conclusion of the Bahuda Yatra. It will later be shifted to Bhubaneswar Railway Station. Railway officials said the initiative aims to strengthen safety, security, and surveillance using cutting-edge AI technology at major stations.
