Berhampur, Ap 25: Deputy Chief Minister Prabhati Parida embarked on a two-day Ganjam visit starting Friday to review the implementation of various government programs. On the first day, she conducted a district-level review of the Women and Child Development Department, Mission Shakti, and the Tourism Department at the Ganjam District Council hall in Rushikuliya.

The Deputy Chief Minister first visited the Maa Narayani temple in Khallikote and later proceeded to Chatrapur in the afternoon. She inquired about the health status of students in the district and assessed the status of Anganwadi centers across various blocks. She examined how many centers have their own buildings, how many operate in rented spaces, how many function from school premises, and how many have yet to start operations.

Where centers had not yet begun functioning, she requested detailed reports on the underlying issues. Notably, around 1,000 Anganwadi centers in the district lacked electricity, prompting her instructions to include them under the Prime Minister’s Surya Ghar scheme. She also addressed deficiencies in basic infrastructure: approximately 200 centers lacked kitchens, and five centers had no toilets, which were directed to be rectified. Additionally, 442 centers operating in rented spaces were identified, and officials were instructed to ensure proper supervision during the distribution of school uniforms, which had faced numerous complaints.

Under the Subhadra scheme, she addressed payment issues affecting 767 beneficiaries out of 816,167 eligible individuals in the district. The Deputy Chief Minister also reviewed the implementation of other government schemes. In terms of tourism, 23 sites in Ganjam have been granted official recognition, with proposals submitted to recognize an additional 37 locations.

During her visit, the full launch of the Shri Mission scheme in Ganjam district was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Prabhati Parida. Tomorrow, she will continue her inspections in Gopalpur, Sonapur Beach, and Tampara to monitor the progress of ongoing development works.
